Cheap holidays to Barbados have a huge amount to offer to all kinds of visitors and as proof of this, Barbados can boast more repeat visitors than any other island in the Caribbean chain. Of course there are the almost standard attractions of swimming in the stunning blue waters or lounging the day away on an impossibly white sand beach.
The first thing you will have to do on arrival is slow down to the, life enjoying, pace of the locals. Once you take life easy, the way the people of Barbados do then you will be able to fully enjoy your holiday.
There are many direct flights available from the UK and other European airports that can speed you to Barbados in just about seven hours. English is still the official language as the country only gained its independence from Britain in the 60s and its inhabitants can claim a near 100% literacy rate so communicating and asking what you need will not be a problem.
The truth is that Barbados is still referred to as "Little England" and remains part of the Commonwealth. In some ways it can be seen as being more British than Britain as it holds on to many of its traditions.
Many people taking cheap holidays to Barbados head for the "Platinum" or west coast which is lapped by the beautiful Caribbean. Others prefer the eastern side which is not as developed. The south of the island is where the Caribbean and Atlantic meet offering even more stunning water conditions.
The food of Barbados is a heady mix of Indian, African, native Caribbean with some influence from the US and many European countries making for an incredibly interesting selection of truly exotic food choices. Some of the more popular local dishes include breadfruit, cou-cou, flying fish, plantains (a type of banana) and they ubiquitous Caribbean sweet potatoe.
Most of the well-known resorts are found along the West Coast as well as some very attractive villas. But for those wanting cheap holidays to Barbados they will also be able to find lower-priced apartment and hotel deals. The less-expensive accommodation can be found on the south and East coasts of the island.
The weather on Barbados is very constant from one end of the year to the other with daytime temperatures being around 23 to 25° and a very pleasant few degrees cooler overnight. There is also a near permanent tradewinds factor always working to keep visitors cool. Barbados is fortunate that it lies just a fraction south of the main hurricane route and in fact is not received a direct hit in 60 years.
There can be little doubt that Barbados can offer exactly what most people are looking for in an exciting but at the same time relaxing holiday destination. Selecting cheap holidays to Barbados does not mean that anyone would have to compromise on the sheer enjoyment of this stunning island location.
