A good long haul destination to choose for those on a limited budget would be a cheap holiday to the Dominican Republic. There is the second largest island in the extremely long and beautiful Caribbean chain has long been a popular destination for those seeking something a little different in a stunning tropical location.
Many people with hedonistic tendencies for two this island paradise to enjoy its exotic and highly diverse food, not to mention its stunning beaches and turquoise crystal clear waters. His culture has a place all of its own and is a wild mixture of African, indigenous Dominican Tainos and quite a lot of European tradition thrown in for good measure.
There is little doubt that many people arriving at the thatched roof international airports at Santo Domingo or Punta Cana intend to spend the vast majority of their holiday relaxing on the stunning beaches. Finding your own little un-spoilt beach is not too much of a problem as the country can boast over 1000 miles of stunning unspoiled pure white sand at destinations such as Playa Dorada. Cabarete and Puerto Plata.
Many of the cheap holidays to the Dominican Republic options are based around so-called all-inclusive resorts that mean that you can more or less leave your wallet at home as everything as meals, drinks, nightclubs and other entertainment as well as sports such as tennis, windsurfing and diving are included in your initial holiday payment.
Many people opt to spend practically their entire holiday at these results as they can offer every facility that many people need for every day and night of their stay without ever having to leave the property.
On the other hand there are many things that these people miss by not venturing outside and taking in some of the attractions and opportunities that the Dominican Republic has in abundance.
There are some stunning national park areas in particular those at Los Haitises and also Isla Cabritos where you can spend a day hiking through the forests and viewing the stunning wildlife and birds, or you could take an all day or several day biking trek taking in everything the parks have to offer including waterfalls, rock climbing and fishing.
It should be noted that the country is located within the croquet in line of the Caribbean and even though the chances of a direct hit are slim it can on occasion been hit by huge amounts of rainfall especially during the month of October.
The island does have a rainy season although it is extremely short lasting most of the month of May and then again a little in September and possibly in November, although these are usually short sharp showers followed by more bright sunshine.
Weather-wise the most popular period to visit the Dominican Republic is Christmas through until Easter and then again from mid June through August.
